About Colin Anderson
M. Ed., University of Illinois
Certified Instructor, The Enneagram Spectrum Method

My career began in education, where I spent years working with students navigating complex transitions—from international graduate students mastering academic English while pursuing their doctorate degrees, to refugee and immigrant youth finding their footing in a new country and culture. As a Fulbright grantee in Ecuador and later as a K-12 teacher, I learned that effective teaching isn't about imposing a one-size-fits-all approach. It's about recognizing each person's unique starting point and helping them chart their own path forward. This is where the Enneagram truly excels—meeting us where we are, showing us a vision of who we could become, and providing a framework to help us grow and change. After teaching, I spent 2 and a half years working a senior data analyst at Stericycle. In my work, I saw many Enneagram types interacting, some successfully, and some less so. It got me thinking about how I could help others bring more self-knowledge and awareness to their everyday lives.

As I started building Essential Enneagram Coaching, I decided I needed some training specifically in the Enneagram. I studied under Dr. Jerome Wagner, professor emeritus of Psychology at Loyola University Chicago. I completed his course, the Enneagram Spectrum Training and Certification Program, accredited with honor by the International Enneagram Association (IEA), in spring 2026.

The Enneagram is the most powerful framework I've found for understanding the "why" beneath our patterns, and I'm here to help you discover your type with clarity, understand your patterns with compassion, and use these insights to create meaningful change in your life and relationships.
